Energy efficiency

Control and Optimization of Ship Energy Efficiency incorporates best practices in the management of ships, such as, for example, the speed optimization along the journey or the dynamic trim of the vessel. Such measures significantly reduce fuel consumption and thus emissions of CO2. Shipping companies have a strong incentive to reduce fuel consumption and associated CO2 emissions because fuel costs represent a significant proportion (over 50%) and increased operating costs of vessels, having increased by 300% since 2005. Also expected to increase even further to 50% as a result of increased use of distillate fuels (low sulfur content) that will result from the implementation of the new IMO standards in Emission Control Areas in 2015.

To achieve the optimization of consumption and energy efficiency, Janus includes the following actions:

Janus Systems has the physical tools, knowledge and experience to offer energy audit service, being a consultant who seeks maximum energy efficiency and cost savings of activity of a vessel or a fleet. The information provided by the system allow for changes in the pattern of operation of the activity aimed at achieving maximum energy efficiency and therefore the maximum fuel economy.

Integral System Fleet Janus

Fleet Integral System (IMS) makes available through the Internet in "The Cloud" of data in real time and therefore the relevant information of each boat. The SIF is designed to provide the owner all the information about the actual operation of their ships, leaving the manual reporting process and reducing bureaucracy on board. The data centre Janus System sends all information to be analyzed in real time to a remote ground station. The SIF register with any data processor that the owner wants to assess ground: position, charging status / navigation, fuel consumption, tank levels, temperatures wineries, etc.. (also in the operation of fishing tackle, fishing reports per set, etc.) This data is transmitted to our central server. From that moment the owner, or anyone who has access, shall consult the data of each vessel, or fleet together.

Another important advantage of the system is the remote service. By connecting IP fixed satellite systems, or direct connection of GPRS systems, our technicians can connect to the ship's system configuration and troubleshooting or updating data.

The system will allow us to know precisely the fuel consumption made, which in turn will allow us to identify the practices and consumption patterns. Consumption data along with other variables that may affect it (main engine speed, temperature of exhaust fumes, the turbo pressure, wind speed and direction, heel and trim, ...) are monitored in real time through a screen and are recorded in the system memory periodically.
